On August 10th, SK Hynix announced an important milestone: they have successfully completed the application performance verification with MediaTek's next-generation mobile application processor (AP). This verification was carried out using SK Hynix's LPDDR5T chip.
SK Hynix highlighted that LPDDR5T was developed in January 2023 and boasts an impressive operating speed of 9.6 gigabits per second (Gbps). To verify its product performance, they submitted samples to MediaTek in February this year.
LPDDR5T is hailed as the fastest mobile DRAM chip to date and has passed rigorous tests with the highest model used in MediaTek's Dimensity platform chipset. It is expected that MediaTek's next flagship mobile chipset, slated for release this year, will incorporate SK Hynix's LPDDR5T chip.
Furthermore, SK Hynix also mentioned that their LPDDR5T chip is undergoing standardization certification by the Joint Electron Device Engineering Council (JEDEC), and this process is nearing completion. They predict that once their product completes standardization certification and enters full-scale market supply, the rate of mobile devices upgrading their DRAM will accelerate significantly starting from next year.
